Spinners heavy on Bangalore’s Batsmen
Put on to bat first , Bangalore posted 127 runs on the board. With the return of Villers from injury , RCB looked to make good runs on the board with such a boosted batting lineup.
Early on , Both captains said they wanted to chase though the pitch was dry and is likely to get drier as the sun beats down. Some green grass was left on it to perhaps slow down the deterioration. In any case, that suggested they were more than confident that the batsmen in their line-ups could cope in case conditions became difficult, but not the bowlers. And there are stats to back that kind of thinking. CSK (9.18) and RCB (9.17) have the worst economy rates this season.
Parthiv’s half century and Southee fireworks helped Bangalore to reach a respectable total. Virat Kohli and Abd Villers were sent back by Jadeja and Bhajji. Brendom McCullum mistimed his shot and was caught by Shardul Thakur at Mid-On. Chennai targets the top spot whereas RCB would want to defend this total and make their chance alive for the playoffs. Jadeja was brilliant for Chennai , he bowled four overs , conceded 13 runs and sent 3 batsmen back to the pavilion.
