Bans for Australian Players

During the test against South Africa , Cameroon Bancroft was found misbehaving with the ball.  After Smith confessed that , the plan was not of Bancroft  alone but senior players too were involved.

This confession by Smith  , burned out the issue. ICC punished , Smith , Warner and Bancroft with match fees along with demerit points. But , issue got fired up , seeking Australian PM’s attention. And yesterday during the conference , CEO of Cricket Australia had declared that the trio will not be available for the final test , and will be sanctioned within 24 hours.

Resultingly, today CA(Cricket Australia ) announced the bans for these players.  Captain Steve Smith and Vice Captain David Warner stepped down from their respective positions . On the other side , Smith ended up the contract with Rajasthan Royals and Sunriser’s  David Warner stepped down as captain .

While Cameroon Bancroft, the player to alter the condition of the ball, has been slapped with a 9-month ban as Cricket Australia came down heavily on the errant trio which disgraced itself in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.

Steve Smith and Warner also stood down as captain and vice-captain of the Australian squad after the duo was found guilty hatching plot to alter the condition of the ball to gain undue advantage.

Bancroft – Red Handed

However, chief coach Darren Lehmann was surprisingly given a clean chit after CA concluded its preliminary investigations yesterday.

Tim Paine will captain Australia in the final Test match in Johannesburg with reinforcements in middle-order batsman Glenn Maxwell along with openers Joe Burns and Matt Renshaw scheduled to arrive on Thursday.
